Game time change
To make room for a large corporate event we have moved the 7/25 games back 35 minutes. The new times are reflected on the schedule. We will send out an e-mail reminder of the change after the ice is back. All but the top two seeds are already set so the first week of the playoffs is posted. We will know the order of the top two seeds for the second week of the playoffs and will schedule the games accordingly.

White Champs!
Congrats to white for bombing the bombers in the Stonely cup 7 - 4. Woody had a zillion goals and won the MVP. Tracy Baily and Mark Robertson picked up their first cup in a zillion seasons. Todd Oliverio scored a goal and won the cup in his first season. Good job guys.
The all time reports are updated. The reports are the bottom ones in the top group. Rob, Ryan and the Persails have all been in at least 40 shoot out games over the years. A few guys that haven't one a cup yet and are still active are Jayson Lepage, Pete Ruvolo, Ken Bollweg, Conor Farrell, Tom Miller and Isreal Salazar. Check out those all time stats. They are pretty cool.
We have a few spots open for next season. We'll be picking teams Friday evening so sign up because we start next Sunday. I'm not fixing any more typo's in this post.

Calling all current and former
OHL players it is time for registration again and this time the rink is going
to reward you for signing up early. If you sign up on or before April 30th then
you will get the early bird special of only $285 for skaters and $165 for goalies.
If you sign up on May 1st or later the cost will be the regular new price for
our league, $310 for skaters or $180 for goalies. If you need to make two payments
for the season the payments will be $160 for skaters and $95 for goalies and
the second payment will have to be made prior to the playoffs. Employees of
the rink will need to talk with either Justin or Paul about playing in the league.
We would like to close sign-ups on May 7th so please sign up early. If you would
like to help to run the clock during the season to earn rink credit please talk
with Steven. Be aware that this credit can be used for future seasons but not
the current one.
For this upcoming season there will be new jerseys that will be turned in at
the end of each season (please make sure to turn in your current jersey as we
will use those as backups). Please sign up early so that we can get these jerseys
as soon as possible. There was also talk for this upcoming season of capping
some of the top players in the league but decided against it for now hoping
that they will police themselves.
The season will run from May 10th through August 16th. There will be no hockey
on May 24th or July 5th due to the holidays.
Draft night will be on May 8th and if you are interested in being a captain

Because we have so many people listed on our distribution list we are getting labled as a spammer so we have to change the way we do e-mails. We will continue to collect e-mail addresses for our use by captains etc. for notifying thier teams. We also have totally seperate web based mailing list that was populated with our entire distribution list with data as of 4/30/2008. There is a link to the left in the nav bar to add yourself to this list. We will not be adding anyone to it. It will be up to you to add and remove yourself from the distribution list. It was Teal over green by a score of 4 to 3 (I think) in a game that went back and forth all the way. Kevin Szafron paced Blades of Glory with two goals and won the MVP trophy. RIP Jon Di Mari
Last night, during the late Novice
league game, John DiMari, in net for the Yellow team, asked for a time out,
and indicated he was going to be sick. He went off the ice and was attended
to by several brother players who are firefighter paramedics. They said call
911, which we did immediately. They arrived and transported John to Clear Lake
Regional where he passed away. John's family in New York has been notified,
as well as his church family in Galveston. No word on services yet, but when
I find out I will post and email the information.
Please remember John as the friendly guy he was, and know he was doing what
he loved, among people he counted as friends.. Jeff

New GM...and
more.
Jeff is standing down as Commissioner and Steve the stat man Berenzweig is taking over. This should be a good change since Steve sees many of the games and is already involved in a lot of the OHL activities. Congratulations Steve!
We are considering making a change to the Jerseys. We are going to look at reversible jerseys. Because of the increased cost of reversible jerseys we would probably collect them at the end of the season. We will get a couple demo jerseys and let folks try them out to see which ones people like the best. There would also be no more socks. I'm sure most people have a billion pair of socks already so getting a pair of socks for a new player shouldn't be hard for us to do. These are just some of the ideas we are throwing around. Next season we will have socks and jerseys to give out like we normally do.
The playoffs are in full swing and we have four teams still alive. Next week Kickapoo will play Mandan and Cobalt will play Necros Zool. The updated schedule can be found on the links to the left.
There is a thread in the message board discussing the splitting of the league. Check out the comments and add your own if you wish. Please try to be nice.

Winter 2008 sign ups
The OHL playoffs are in process and will resume on 11/25 after Thanksgiving. Now it is time to open sign-ups for next season. The price is going to remain $295 for skaters and $170 for goalies. The season will run from 1/6/08 to 4/13/08 and will be off on 2/3 (Super bowl) and 3/23 (Easter).
The following is an explanation of information we will be gathering during registration. It is not a promise that we will do anything with the information if the data does not support any action.
We have been hearing various comments from people about the level of play being greater than it has been in the past. Some of that is related to new players and some is related to players improving. Because of this we are going to try something that we tried once before about five years ago. We are going to ask everyone when they sign up if they would like to play in the upper division of the OHL, lower division of the OHL or if they don't really care either way. When we tried this in the past nearly everyone signed up for low. If this happens again there will be only one division again. We feel we need to have an even number of teams in each division so we will probably have six teams in one division and four in the other division. No division will get better ice times and both will play for their own cup and have their own playoffs. Every player in the upper division will NOT be considered better players than the players in the low division. However, an upper division team would probably defea
t a lower division team most of the time. For those of you not familiar with the current season we pretty much had six upper teams and four lower teams. There was only one time a bottom four team defeated a top six team all season. The divide between the divisions would probably be greater than we had this season.
We want to make clear that it is OK to say you don't care what level. Once we see who all is signed up we will see what we can do about splitting into divisions. We can't promise anything because the last time we tried this we didn't split the league. We're going to try it again because of the number of requests we have received.

We will be selecting teams on Friday evening so please sign up before then. Don't forget to sign up for USA hockey because we will not be able to give you a jersey if you don't sign up. You can check this page to see if BAHHA has received your registration. I you are not on this list simply bring your printout to the rink. If you forget to bring the printout we will be able to look you up online. You can even be the ultimate procrastinator and sign up on-line at the rink. We can't afford to have people playing that are not signed up with USA hockey.
There is a novice class this Wednesday at 7:10 PM. It would be cool if all the new guys could make this class so we can get a better feel for your rating.

In the past 45 minutes I have updated the all time player win loss records and the all time cup winners page. These can both be reached from Steve's Stats page. It is always linked under the current season. I also created a new report that shows all of the past OHL champions and the players on those teams. It is linked below the main OHL links to the left. Beer League to
begin May 6th
The rosters are set and a beer theme was quickly chosen. It may be because we were picking teams in the bar upstairs at the rink. The schedule isn't final yet so I am not mass mailing the league until it is done. When the schedule is set we will fire off a note to the league. We have never picked teams this early so there will be plenty of time for people to complain about the teams before we start.

The Lucky charms won the Stonely cup over the Red Martians by a score of seven to one. Jason Maxwell was the MVP with four assists. A couple of those were key assist early on.

SCNHL is
Underway
The Space City Novice hockey League (SCNHL) is underway and it filled up but spots may open up. Let us know if you would like to be added to the waiting list. We added a section to the BAHHA message board for the SCNHL and linked it in the links to the left. Thanks to BAHHA for sharing their message board. It is very convenient to have all the message boards located together.
Have fun everyone and remember that winning is only secondary. The point of the league is to have fun and develop as a player. With that winning will come. The focus is on fun and meeting friends. We will adjust the teams if there appears to be an imbalance. We do this in the OHL as well. The better we do on the evals the less this is necessary.
This season we had a lot of people with baggage that were added to the rosters after the initial draft and that created a lot of confusion. We're sorry about that.

Beginner/Novice League
We are opening a "beginner" league for the spring and summer. The idea is to give folks a chance to play at a slower pace to get more puck touches, and not be behind the play so much.
The rink is going to have some programs starting at 7:10, so the first game will be 8:20 pm, and the second (if we get 4 teams) at 9:30 pm. If the demand is such that we need another slot, we would probably use the 7:10 one. The plan is for two 11 week seasons, the 1st one runs from from April 4 to June 13. The second is from June 20 to September 5, not playing July 4th.
Cost is $180 for skaters, $90 for goalies. It's bring your own jersey, but will have a ref and scorekeeper. It'll be
three 11 minute periods, and 13 skaters per team, sorted by draft similar to OHL and
HWHL.

We may look into starting up another league on another night if there is a demand for it. We need to look around for open ice slots.
Congratulations to Jeff Ragsdale for scoring four goals in one game for a Texas Hat-Trick! This is only Jeff's second season. Jeff had to take the rest of the season off but we will be looking for him again next season.

We selected the teams tonight. The roster and schedule have been added to the nav bar to the left. We look forward to the new season and hope everyone has a good time!
We had to wait list between 5 and 10 players tonight because of all the late registrations. We're really sorry. We still have an opening for a goalie on the team with four guys named Chris.

Blew by
everybody
Blew by You won the Stonely cup with a 5 - 4 shootout win on the 8th man in the shootout. Rod Nicholson, Josh Ringleben, Chris Madsen (Who ran the Dallas Marothon in the morning), Jim Young and Aaron Pavalonis scored in the shootout. Great job everyone. Neither team deserved to lose with both teams holding the lead at different points.

Change
We survived week one. Unfortunately we have to make a schedule change back to the original game times . Please go print a new schedule. Also please sign up for USA Hockey if you haven't yet. It is really hard for us to do the USA Hockey stuff when we have to keep tracking people down. Very hard and not fun.
We also welcome the afterburners to our web page. Links have been added to the left for their rosters and schedule.

Video Added
I put together a quick video of the three goals. It's out on the OHL photo album now.

Loonies are the Real Macaws!
The game was scoreless all night until Dan Aubin the MVP scored three times. Dan put one in his net then followed that up by redirecting a goal into his own net. Not to outdo himself he scored another goal with 15 seconds left for the win. Pete Ruvolo donated a couple Aeros tickets and the rink announced that the new prize for the winner of the MVP will get their next season paid for. Everyone liked the sounds of that deal. Thank you SCIS for picking up sponsorship of this award.
Pictures from the evening were added to the OHL photo album. You can also go directly to the album for the Summer 2006 season.
You better sign up fast. I heard we are over 100 skaters already for next season. Also if you are playing in the novice tournament over Labor Day you better get signed up with the rink.

Pasadena Citizen
Article
There is a nice write-up in the Pasadena Citizen newspaper this week. It talks about the OHL and Jim Young and Chris Quinn who work for the Pasadena Independent school district. There is a copy floating around at the rink. You can probably get it from Jeff. It was a nice article.
Don't forget there are still adult Hockey classes on Monday and Wednesday nights. Check the SCIS Calendar for the proper times. There is a link to the SCIS website to the left.

Schedule Change
Due to a previously schedule broom ball outing we will have to change up our schedule for next week. We can't start until 6:20 so we decided the least impact on everyone is to move the second through fifth games back a half hour and reschedule the first game for some other date and time. We are very sorry but this is out of our hands.
In addition all games for the rest of the season beginning week three will start five minutes earlier. Please check the latest schedule using the links to the left.
February 13th, 2006 [7:00

Goals Goals
Goals!
The first week is in the books and four of the five games had 12 or more goals. Let the rubber fly. The games were still all close in the end too. Three were two goals games with an empty net goal. The other two games were one goal games with one of those games going to a shootout. Great games everyone. Purple is now known as Crown Royal.
February 10th, 2006 [11:15
PM]
Full!
We filled up and ended up with one player on the waiting list. The roster are schedule is posted. Will Reed Caughey go 3 for 3? He is on a pretty good looking team with solid goaltending. Time will tell.
February 9th, 2006 [10:50
PM]
10 teams!
We have 120 signed up so we will get our ten tams. We're still looking for more players so sign up fast because we will be selecting teams Friday night.
I updated the nav bar to the left and included the schedule. It is still in its raw state but you can look at it and make sure everything looks pretty even. It is as even as I could make it. Don't tell me that it isn't even. Only tell me what to change to make it more even. In an ideal world every team would have 2 of all time slots but one. They would only have one of one of the five time slots. There are 9 regular season games. Akk I just noticed the Stonely cup game is late. I'll drop it into the middle slot and slide the other two games down. If you have good eyes you will see it says 2005 on it. The master now says 2006 but I won't update the html and PDF's yet.

Sideways won the Cup over Damage Inc. Bryan Hemphill did all he could to keep Damage Inc. under control but Jason Thorpe's hat trick and Tim Reith's game winning goal were too much. Dan Engel on the other end of the ice wasn't letting much in the next other than one nice goal by Mike Bertoja.

"Pops" LaVigne Photos
I put together a DVD that cycled through various pictures of Pops playing hockey to show at the memorial. As the pictures were cycling through Don came from way across the room to thank me for making the slide show. Well here you are Donnie. I've added those pictures permanently into the OHL photo Album and included a link to them in the Nav bar. You have a wonderful family Don and your mother is such a sweetheart! I don't know how you all kept it together so well yesterday because I sure didn't. My deepest sympathies. Tey Brady

"Pops" LaVigne
As many of you know, we lost one of our friends last night during the Silver Bullets/Puck Eaters game. Pops LaVigne collapsed while doing what he loved, playing hockey with his son, Don, and in spite of immediate medical
response, was unable to be revived.
We would like to express our support and prayers for Don and their family during this impossibly difficult time.
Further information, including memorial dates, times and locations will be posted on this board, and emailed to the league distribution as soon as it is available.
Thank you for your patience and prayers.

Stonely Cup Stats
I created a report that shows how many seasons everyone has played in the OHL since Winter 2002 and now many cups everyone has won. The most interesting statistic I saw was that of the 12 players that have not missed a season only three have won at least one Stonely cup in that time. Since I am one of the six big loser I guess I will name us all: Rob Ardoin, Tey Brady, Dave Grant, Jeff Stone, Susan Stone, and Ryan Welsh. Jeff and Susan always play on the same team as do Rob and Ryan. Dave and Tey are on the same team this season. Dave Grant has never played in the Stonely cup finals. Who wants to be on our team now?
Enjoy the report. it is listed in the nav bar to the left and I will update it after every season.
Edit: I just found a couple of pictures from the two seasons prior to when we have data in the database and Rob and Ryan won the cup the season before we started keeping statistics. The season prior to that Jeff, Susan and Tey all won the cup together the first time it was awarded as the Alpo Cup. There are links way down in the nav that show those two teams. I also added a link to the new OHL Photo album in the nav bar and kept the old one around as well. If you have any pictures you would like added let us know.

Ladies Night!
It was ladies last night as Jen Culham netted her first goal in the OHL and Lacey turned sweet 16. Congratulations girls! Marsha Tallman had a heck of a game for More Cowbell playing tenacious D. I'm sure the other ladies had great nights as well. Rachel Feldt smashed her finger in her trunk the day before our game so she didn't play. I'm sure she felt it. Sorry bad joke. I'm sure she has never heard that one before.

Week 1
Week 1 is complete with most of the games being very close. The rosters and standings are updated. I'm sure Steve will have his stats updated soon. Don't forget to check the score sheets after the game if you want to make sure your points are awarded. It is a lot of work for Steve to do the stats and it is easier if he doesn't have to update the stats all the time.
Some of you may not be aware but there is a Adult hockey practice at the rink on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:15. This is a good way improve your game and get some valuable exercise. You can call the rink at 281-486-7979 for more details or check their web site. There is also a weekly drop-in on Tuesday nights at 10.
A note on USA hockey. Some of you noticed that you haven't been receiving the USA hockey magazine. This will be fixed next year because all registrations will be handled on-line. We will have more details later but basically you will use the USA Hockey web site and will get a registration number and a PDF with a bar code on it that you will present to us for proof of your registration. You will maintain your own address and take the burden off us. Many times we register people for USA hockey before we know the address and some times people move and get new addresses that don't make it to USA Hockey.

Wins the Stonely Cup!
It had to go to overtime and all the way to the 6th shooter for the D-team to pull out the 3-2 win over the slashers. Russell March was awarded the Conn-Symons cup as the MVP of the game. He will get to use a BMW Z4 for the weekend courtesy of Advantage BMW. The pictures are out on the photo album under Winter 2005 then the Stonely cup directory. Great job everyone and don't forget to sign up for next season with the rink if you plan to play. The phone number is 281-486-7979 if you want to call in your registration.

Stonely Cup
Finals Set!
A couple of Cinderella stories ended abruptly last night and The Slashers will face The D Team in the finals. The updated schedule is posted to the left. Note that we moved the finals to the middle game this season to try it out. We will have more information on the festivities for finals night later this week.
Sign-ups for next season are under way at the rink. Please don't freak out by the different divisions that we labeled upper and lower. Upper is basically what we have now. If you feel like some of the guys are too fast for you then you may want to choose lower. We will only be splitting into divisions if we get enough players where it makes sense to do so. The other thing to note is that everyone is that we are not implying that everyone in upper will be more talented that all the players in lower. Maybe upper and lower are bad words for the divisions.
All players eligible for the rebate have had the rebate posted to your account at the rink. You can use the account for a discount on the current season or you can use it for skate sharpening at the rink etc. The card should be convenient for you to use and you no longer need to carry money into the rink or go back to your car to get it.

Season Information
It is
summertime and another season is on the way. On Tuesday 5/31 we will
begin taking sign-ups for the Summer 2005 season. We will begin the new season
on June 26th. We will have Eval games on June 19th (the time is yet to be
determined) for new players we haven't seen play before. You can sign up for
this eval at the rink or you may be evaluated at any of the Tuesday drop-ins. We
will contact any new players about setting up an eval.
In an attempt to keep everyone happy and challenged we are doing a couple of new things.
Please use

Playoffs!
The playoffs begin next week and run for the final four weeks of the season. In the first week of the playoffs the bottom four teams are facing elimination and the top six teams are just seeding for the next week so those teams can all lose the first week and not be eliminated. We do everything we can in our playoff format to make it as fair and as fun for everyone as we can. Please try to have fun out there and be a good winner as well as a good loser. This is just a novice league and the focus should be on having fun and trying to improve while getting some valuable exercise.

Week one
complete all rosters full
We had two shootouts and three other close games which is how we like it to be. A couple people had their first goals. Christopher Whitehead and Patrick Smith both picked up first goals in the OHL. Patrick got his in his first game. Now we will be expecting goals every week from Patrick! Mark Robertson recorded a hat trick on three shots in the same shift. He also had another goal for the yet to be named steel blue team to make a Texas Hat trick. John Leggio recorded a goal and an assist. One other guy that got his first goal was Danny Engel. I think Danny had two goals and three assists so it probably won't be his last points in the OHL!
Sorry for the late web updates but I had a computer crash and my roadrunner is out for the second time this month. Unlike satellite, cable will go out when it isn't raining. In order for cable reception to be better for me than satellite is we would need Noah's ark to stay afloat with all the rain it would take!!
A big thanks to Phil Fox from Das Bier Hunde for putting the jerseys together on extremely short notice! If anyone wants to add their name to their jersey or anything like that make a post in the message board to get in contact with Phil.

Please check this thread on the message board to make sure you are on our official sign-up list. If you are not on that list and think you should be please contact us at ohl@houston.rr.com to find out why you are not on the list. It is very easy to lose someone in the shuffle and we don't want to do that. Please contact us at ohl@houston.rr.com to get signed up. You can take your checks to the rink and ask the front desk to put them in the BAHHA mail box. We will be selecting teams on Friday.

and stuff!!!
For those whose missed skating on Feb. 6th, every team got a pep talk from the commissioner reminder them that we arte all about fun, and ensuring everyone's safety. We had a player get a severe smack to the head, which resulted in missing work, and even OHL games. We cannot allow this to happen. Please be careful.
We have negotiated 5 game times for the next season, all on Sunday afternoons/evenings. Sign-ups for the Winter '05 season are underway (we already have more than 10 registered). Paypal is available on the website under Sign up NOW!!! on the left hand nav bar. We added a $10 fee to use paypal to cover the charge back we get from paypal. You can pay by check to save the $10 fee.

The New player eval drop-in is scheduled on Saturday March 5th at 8:00 pm. Please call the rink at 281-486-7979 to sign up for this if you are a new player in the league. You may also attend any of the Tuesday drop-ins to be evaluated. If you are in the Monday night class you can consider yourself evaluated.
There is a post on the message board discussing a possible new idea for the jerseys. It has some positives and some negatives of course. Here is a link to the thread.

First Goal!!!
John Leggio started the new year off with his first ever goal and added an assist as well.
Mike Surber of the Blue Angels had his first goal as well - a very important power play goal in a tight game!!! Three more seconds and Paul Robinson would have had a good shot at the tying goal.

We will be doing another OHL @

7:30 against the Norfolk Admirals. If you want to play in this game please
send a note to ohl@houston.rr.com
. We will start a thread in the message board soon with those signed
up. If you haven't done this yet you are missing a good time. Here
are the reduced rate Aeros tickets before here are the
prices:
Ticket Prices
$23 for Center Ice (reg. $28)
$15 for Corners (reg. $20)
$12 for Lower End zone (reg. $16)
$8 for Upper End zone (reg. $11)
In other news our long time friend
Mal Symons was in town for this past Sundays games. We took a couple
pictures
of Mal with Tony Townley
and the Conn-Symons cup. The cup is for the MVP of the OHL playoffs.
Tony at Advantage BMW sponsors a BMW Z4 for the weekend to the winner of the
Conn-Symons Cup.
The Space
City Ice Station are
nearing their grand opening celebration. We will post the details when we
have them. In the mean time there are a large number of drop-ins this
week. If someone wants to start a thread in the message board perhaps we
could get a lot of guys to come out to a particular night. Tuesday is
always well attended but the others usually aren't. With a little
organization we could probably get a bunch to come out. People tend to shy
away when there are only a couple guys signed up and don't sign up. If we
get organized we should know who can make which nights.

The OHL @ The
AHL and more...
OHL @ AHL: Jeff Stone has been working with the Houston Aeros again to get discount ticket vouchers and an opportunity for The OHL to skate at the Toyota Center on November 7th. We don't have all the details yet but should have them early next week. The vouchers are basically discount tickets that can be used at any regular season game in any quantity. I believe the vouchers cost less than some people paid for season tickets last year and give you the flexibility to go to any game with any number of people. Vouchers are great for people who never know when they are going to a game or how many people will be going. One more note on the AHL in general is that because of the NHL lockout many of the NHL young stars have found their way onto AHL rosters when they would normally be on NHL rosters so the level of all the teams in the AHL will be higher this season than normal.
Skate Sharpening: Tom Kuryk is sharpening skates for 7 dollars a pair. You can contact Tom for details at
tkuryk@sbcglobal.net.
Space City Ice Station: We are still waiting for details of the October 21st BBQ. We are getting very close to that date so I expect to hear some details soon. We will keep everyone informed but you may be able to get the information quicker from the message boards or from the rinks web site
the
Space
City Ice Station web
site. We try to keep everyone up to date as much as possible but we try not to send too much e-mail to our distribution list as well.
Next Season: We will begin taking sign-ups for the new season when we have a better feel for when the rink will open. They are working inside the rink and making progress.

Sharpstown will be having a weekly Sunday Stick & Puck at 2:00 and a drop in at 3:30 through October. The fee is $12 for each. There will be a free informal Learn to play hockey during the Stick & Puck.

Wolverines Win!!
The Wolverines won the Stonely cup over the Mangy Werewolves by a score of 5 - 2. The werewolves had the lead with around 5 minutes to go but Yves took over and completed his hat trick then added an assist much to the delight of the people selecting the winner of the Conn Symons cup. Yves will get to drive a BMW Z4 for a weekend compliments of Advantage BMW. The new trophy is of course named for Mal Symons a former OHL player who donated his helmet for the trophy. The OHL Photo almbum has been updated with a few pictues from the post game. There is a cropped 8x10 version of each of the team pictures. You can get any of the pictures printed at Winkflash for only two bucks for an 8x10. 4x6 is 18 cents and 5x7's are only 29 cents. I have used these guys before and they were very easy to use and the prints came is less than a week.
In the Bronze metal game the Screamin' Eagles won by a score of something like 6 - 4. It was yet another good game between these two cellar dwellers.
We will be making a DVD of both games. We'll send out the details later. We're still on to start back up when Texas Ice reopens. We will start signing people up when the first load of dirt is hauled into the rink. There will probably be a drop in on 9/19 at 6:30 PM. We'll get details on that as soon as we can.

Stonely cup
teams set
The Stonely cup will be between the Wolverines and the Mangy Werewolves. The 3rd place game will precede the Stonely cup between the Screamin' Eagles and the Trunkmonkeys. The Schedule has been updated.
There will be a drop in on 9/5 at 3:30. We will probably start taking sign-ups on the message board pretty soon in case we end up with enough players for a drop-in after the 3:30 drop-in.
August 22nd, 2004 [10:45

Playoffs
The schedule has been updated with the first week of the playoffs. Basically we are playing the same teams as last week at the same time. The drama of the night was trying to find out how many penalty minutes the Trunkmonkeys and Screamin' Eagles had to calculate the tie-breaker.
There is no game on 9/5 but there will likely be a drop in that night. We will get you the details as soon as we have them.
We are still working with the new owners but it looks like the rate will probably be $300 for the upcoming season. We are doing everything we can to get that reduced. Once we know for certain what our rates will be we will open registration for the Winter season.
Now for something fun. Since the Mangy Werewolves spanked the monkeys this week perhaps everyone else would like to spank the monkey too. If you spank the monkey over 200 MPH you will have some good times!

Lots of News
We just sent the following out to the OHL mailing list. If you want to get out our mailing list send a note to ohl@houston.rr.com.
Please note that the schedule has been modified to move the game which fell on Labor Day weekend. We will have the final week of the season on Sept. 12th. There will be a drop-in available on Sept. 5th, but the time is not certain yet. It should be around 5:00 pm. We will announce it on the message board as soon as we know the time.
We are moving from the Hound Pound message board, and the obnoxious pop-up messages, to the OHL section of the BAHHA message board (http://bahha.proboards23.com/) We are beginning a new level of cooperation with the Thursday night Afterburners league. We hope to get more interaction and common events going after things get going again in Clear Lake!
We are planning the next OHL season to start on Oct. 3 AT TEXAS ICE! There is work to be done at the rink, but that is our target. We will play the regular season games before the Christmas holidays, then come back to start the New Year (Jan 2) with playoffs. We expect the cost to be $300 for skaters, and $150 for goalies, plus $35 for the 2004-2005 USA Hockey registration. Unless there is a big change in expected ice costs, that should be it. Anyone interested in being a captain, please contact ohl@houston.rr.com. We will send out another e-mail when we begin registration.
We are working with the Houston Aeros for another series of theOHL @ theAHL events. These were a HUGE hit last year, and want to give everyone a shot at playing there again. Also, if you are thinking of buying season tickets, talk to Mike Krompf (mkrompf@aeros.com) and let him know you are with us. Not sure what that'll get you, other than maybe some points toward skating in our event!
For the ladies in our midst...
WANTED! A WOMEN'S LEAGUE AT TEXAS ICE!
There has been some discussion with myself & the Aerodrome Hockey Director of expanding the Women's Hockey league to Clear Lake Area. I plan to discuss with Texas Ice Management of the same. We need to establish the number of female skaters on the Clear Lake side that are not already participating in the Women's League. The numbers will determine if there is enough interest to support a Women's League at Texas Ice. I being a new seedling of the Friendswood area am excited about the possibility.
The purpose is to expand the Women's League for more diversity, competition, and fun. Most importantly to provide an outlet for our daughters to play, grow & compete.
Time is of the essence so please reply to me so you can be kept up to date of the progress. Reply to Mina (Nateghi) Tomaro: Mina.Nateghi@bakerhughes.com Off: 281.209.7588 Hm: 281.482.5356 Cell: 281.773.7244

Maintenance
What can you expect on April 27th and early April 28th?
The move will begin at 8pm PDT on Tuesday, April 27. We are anticipating
system-wide downtime starting at 8 pm PDT that will continue until 6 am PDT
April 28th. During this time we will be moving servers between data centers.
Some boards will become active sooner than others. Your individual experience
may vary, however we ask that you be prepared for a total of ten hours of
downtime. Anyone attempting to access an ezboard community during this time will
be automatically redirected to a system-wide announcement page with information
on the changes we are making to the ezboard network.
What can you expect after the move date?
Once the move is complete and all servers are back online we expect an
improvement in speed and reliability. Moving forward, the ezboard network should
be faster and more reliable.
We thank you for your patience and understanding and we are anxious for you to
experience these new improvements within ezboard!

OHL Update.
Video in Photo album: A couple videos from the game are in the video folder of the photo album. The large on is five minutes and 12.5 Meg so it will take a while to download. When playing hit Ctrl-Enter to switch to full screen mode.
Stonley Cup Video: The video from the championship game is complete. I couldn’t find what Ken charged last time so I am going to ask for $5 for a DVD and $10 for a VCR tape of the game. You can contact me via this e-mail address or on the message board to request your copy. I will have copies available tonight at the 8PM drop-in.
Next Season Info: Sign-ups are under way at the front desk at Texas ice. The new season begins on Jan 18th and runs through April 11th. Sign up early to ensure that you will get on a team. We had some people that missed last season because we didn’t have enough people to get from 8 to 10 teams. We can handle up to 104 skaters with 8 teams and need 120 skaters to get to 10 teams.
The OHLympics games: The OHLympic games are a fun night of drop-ins. We have one scheduled at 7:00 PM and another at 8:30PM on January 4th. You can call Texas Ice to sign up at 281-486-7979 ext 100. We have it set up so the lower level players can play in the first game and the higher level players can play in the second game. You can sign up for either game but please only sign up for one game. Bring a light and dark jersey if you can.
New Player Evals: New players are required to attend this night or a drop-in so we can get an idea of your level of play so we can make the teams as even as possible. The evaluation game is on January 11th at 8:00 PM. Call Texas Ice to sign up and pay in advance to get on the list.
Hockey clinics: Tom Kuryk will be putting on back to back clinics on Sunday December 28th at Noon and 1:15PM. The first clinic is on Stick Handling and the second clinic is on Passing and Shooting. The cost is $15 per clinic or $25 for both.
Lots of Drop-ins: There are a number of Drop-ins over the Christmas break at Texas Ice. These drop-ins are usually lightly attended. If you want to play in one of the Drop-ins you can call Texas Ice and sign up. I recommend that you make a post in the message board trying to get more people to come out.

Schedule Change
We
had to move Saturday 11/15 game back to Friday 11/14 at 9:30 PM because of a
scheduling conflict. The teams that play in that game are the Junkyard
Dogs and The Pirates. The schedule is updated and that game is in Red.

Many updates
The

he has so far. Great job Steve!!! The league rules have been updated
also. Eventually I will put together a page with names under the pictures.
For now here is what we have.
Team Chaos - Black
The Admirals - Blue
Junkyard Dogs - Green

Season Info
If you are going to play in the OHL this season please sign up soon so we can determine how many teams we will have. We will be picking teams Friday September 12th this season. There are approximately 50 skaters signed up so far.
Don't forget that there is a glorified drop in this coming Sunday labeled the OHLympics. Call the rink at 281-486-7979 x100 to get signed up. All the people that said they wanted to play on the message board need to call the rink and let them know if you plan on playing in the early or late game and pay the $12 fee. All of the new players that have signed up for the OHL need to attend either one of the OHLympic games or one of the upcoming Tuesday night drop-ins. No matter which one you plan on coming to you will need to sign up in advance to reserve your spot. There are a couple Thursday night drop-ins before the season starts. If you need to attend on of those let us know at ohl@houston.rr.com

Fall 2003 Season Info
The next season starts September 14, NOT the 21st!!!!
By starting on the 14th we can finish before the Christmas weekend. Also, we will not play November 23rd BEFORE Thanksgiving.
The league fee is $280, which includes the $35 USA Hockey annual registration.
The game times will be as follows:
6
teams - Sunday @ 6:45, 8:15, & 9:45
8 teams - Sunday @ 6:45, 8:15, & 9:45 and Saturday @ 9:00
10 teams - Sunday @ 6:45, 8:15, & 9:45 and Saturday @ 9:00 & 10:30
Registration forms are in Customer Service, so sign up now!
This also moves the OHLympic games up to Sep. 7th. These games were formerly called the All-Star games but we had to rename them so people would realize that the game is for everyone. It's really nothing more than a tune up for the league or a glorified drop-in. The first game is at 7:30 for the less experienced players and the 9:00 game is for more experienced players. If you want to sign up for the game please let us know on the message board so we can keep the player list organized. Also follow this up by calling the rink at 281-486-7979 and paying the $12 fee with your credit card.
Don't forget that the OHL finals are this Sunday.

Playoffs!
I guess it has been a while since we have posted any news. The playoffs
start tomorrow night. Check the schedule to the left for the game
times. We had a four way tie this season which was a lot easier to break
using our new rule for the tie-breakers.
There is a discussion and poll going on in the message board about whether to split into two divisions or just one. Go on out and add your comments.
One final thing is that we created an alias to this web site. You can now reach it by going to http://www.theohl.com Hopefully this will make our league web area easier to give out. We are still a part of the Texas Ice Hounds and plan to keep it that way.

News to you!
Long time no news. It's time to make up for some lost time. Let's
start with the Stats. Steve B has done a great job of getting the detailed
stats together quickly. Great job Steve. I was looking through the
stats and the one thing that nearly slipped past me was the SEVEN goal game by
Nick Janes in week two. He did pass the puck one time because I see he had
an assist too. We have had a few first goals and near first goals.
David Hyde scored a game winning goal in a shoot-out. Unfortunately shoot-out
goals don't show up on the score sheet. Luckily shoot-out whiffs don't
show up either.
I took some pictures at the Yellow/Green game a while back and posted them on the photo album. Jeff Stone took some pictures of the Cup on top of the BMW Z4 that Chris Madson won last season for being MVP in the playoffs. The Z4 pics are in the MVP dir under the 2003 winter dir and the Yellow/Green pictures are in the 2003 summer folder. There is a link to the photo album to the left. When you click on the thumbnails you get a 640 x 480 image. When you click on that image you get the original image. Feel free to take anything you want and get it printed. Sams Club charges 20 cents. Many places charge 29 cents for a 4x6.
Please remember to have fun on the ice out there. Sure it is fun to win but the main thing is to have fun out there and get some exercise. Remember to get out there skate hard and take quick shifts. The quicker everyone makes their changes the more quality ice time you will get.

We maxed out the rosters on all 8 teams! We have 112 players in the

First Goal!!
Rachel Brady notched her first goal but it was too little too late as Orange was
shut down but the stingy Blue Defense 4 - 1. The second game Went to Green 3 - 2
over White. The third and fourth games were ugly as Gray beat red 8 - 1
and Black beat Yellow 10 - 1.

Hella Stats!!!
Thanks to Steve Berenzweig we have some serious stats. Note that on the
bottom of the three new pages there are tabs for either other weeks or other
stats. Steve has added weekly Box Scores, Team Stats and Player Stats!!!
Remember that these stats come from the score sheets so if you want to keep them
accurate you need to get with the refs after the goal. I think we have the
Madsen's Jersey number wrong on our team roster so their points are presently
swapped. We will work that out tomorrow.
Fantastic job Steve!!!

Mellow Yellow?
The Alpo Cup final was won by the Yellow over White 4 - 2. Unfortunately
the game was dominated by penalties. Black beat Orange 8-7 in a
shootout. This was the best game of the evening! Blue beat an
undermanned Teal team 6 - 2 while Silver beat Red after securing a goalie after
one period.
The photo Album has been updated with pictures of the games. I still have to figure out how to shoot inside the stupid rink.
April 8th,
2003 [9:00 AM]
OHL Finals
The Alpo Cup final is set between Yellow and White at 9:30. The dog pound
match is at 5:00 between Red and Silver. Red has the least penalty minutes
as a team all season. Congrats to Red!! Silver is one of the most
penalized teams this season along with Teal. Teal will play against Blue
at 6:30 in the first consolation game. The second consolation game is at
8:00 between Orange and Black. The winners of the consolation games can
consider themselves tied for 3rd place and the losers tied for 5th place in the
league.
Next season begins May 11th. Sign-ups will start soon.
March 31th,
2003 [6:15 AM]
Week 1
David brought down goliath in somewhat of an upset as Orange managed 5 goals on
the stingy Silver team. All the other games saw the winners only allowing
1 goal. Just like the sign says out in front of the rink. Learn D
play adult hockey inside. Next weeks match-ups
posted on the schedule.
Congrats to Rachel on getting her first goal last night. At least I think
she got it. She said she did touch the puck before it went in. There
were quite a pile of bodies in front of the net. It was good timing
because it is her birthday today.

Seeding Complete
The commissioner has determined the seeding of the teams. Please
don't complain or add your interpretation on how the tie should be broken.
The standings and schedule are updated but here is a sneak peak at the order of
the teams after the tie-breaker: Silver, Blue, Teal, White, Black, Yellow.
Next of course are Red and Orange.
Match-ups
posted to the schedule but are also listed here:
Sunday March 30th
5:00 Silver vs Orange
6:30 Blue vs Red
8:00 Teal vs Yellow
9:30 White vs Black

It Happened
I just wanted to let everyone know that we are working out the seeding of the
teams following the six way tie. We will post the results as soon as we
get them straight. You have like that our best record was only 6 - 4 and
our bottom two team each had 2 wins and red also snuck in a OT loss. I
hope we can continue to do this well with selecting the teams next season.
Good luck in the playoffs!
March 17th,
2003 [9:00
PM]
Stats
The
stats have been posted. Look at David Persails up there near the
top. Good job David!!
Welcome back to Greg Vetal and welcome for the time being to Tom Kuryk. If
all the cards fall right next week there could be a six way tie for first
place. It may even be possible for there to be a tie for 7th place too. I
think Orange has to lose a shootout to blue for that to happen. It's too
early to be counting our green though.
We will try to get the standings and schedule posted as soon as possible next
week after the games.
March 9th,
2003 [12:30 AM]
OHL in Space
I was watching a show
on the discovery science channel when I noticed an OHL player. I decided
to tape it so I wouldn't miss anything in case he didn't know he was going to be
on. I sure didn't miss anything because there was another OHL player shown
playing with a Star Trek toy aboard the shuttle. Go out to the photo album
and click on video to see our new TV stars. There was no mention of the
OHL. I did her John rattling off player numbers at one point though.
The champions page for last season was moved to the photo album to free up space
the commissioners personal web site.

Album lives!!
I just took all of my old OHL pictures and everything out on the OHL web page
and created a Photo Album. There is a link to it in the tool bar to the

more than one picture please put it in a winzip file. It would also help
me to know the time frame of the picture. I know there are a bunch of
pictures out there. Feel free to send them in. Enjoy the photo
album. It is pretty cool.
February 25th,

More Stuff!!
The stats have been updated. Congrats to Vicki Hubbell who scored her
first TWO goals. I heard the second goal was some sort of helicopter shot
while she was on the ice and it was going so fast it appeared to be hardly
moving. It was sort of like The Matrix and the goalie dodged the
puck like it was a bullet. Kudos to red for leading the league with only 4
penalty minutes. The teal goons have been in the box seven and a half
times as long as red. Keep up the good chatter on the message board. Stuff
like this
is funny.

Week 2
Update
Week 2 went pretty well for a super bowl Sunday. The silver team played
with only seven skaters after losing their captain Tony when he landed on his
head. He has a separated sternum, severe neck strain and bruised shoulder.
Hopefully he will be back soon. I hate that it was my stick he was
launched from. It was an accident resulting when someone else got in the
way of my stick causing Tony to trip. In other
news
the Lego Stanley cup was stolen.

We have already had 1,000 hits to this web site in the past week since I added a
new counter to it. Congrats to the SWBell person at IP 64.216.89.185 for
being the 1,000th visitor.
Some bad news is that we have lost our 5:00 March 2nd start time so we need to have a 10:45 game that night. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with the schedule? Blue and Teal have no late game but play the previous week so I am considering changing all the games scheduled on 2/23 with the games on 3/2 and sticking blue and teal in the 10:45 slot. I will also do the best at equalizing the times. I think Orange or Silver will have an extra Saturday game over everyone else. Does anyone on Orange or Silver prefer to play or not play on Saturday? Like I said I have not yet looked closely at the schedule. Post suggestions on the message board. Unfortunately everybody may not be able to be accommodated.

OHL Vs.
Afterburners
The
Afterburners won 6 - 1. Jim Burkhart was standing on his head making
saves. A shutout was avoided on a nice play started by Ryan flipping
backhand to Mike M. who moved it ahead to Chris Madsen for the goal. It
was a good game although there was no ceremonial puck drop or national anthem at
this game.

Halfway to the

We
are already half way through the regular season and we have four teams above
.500 and two teams at 1 and 4. Orange looks to be the team to be with
their only loss coming when they were missing three of their top players.
I'm really not sure why Red and Black have only one a game apiece because they
both look pretty good on paper. On any given night any team can beat any
other team. Good luck in the second half.

First Hat
Trick!
In
his first game back after breaking his leg Jeff
Stone got his first hat trick!
All players please check the team address list at the next game and make sure you information is correct. We have bad e-mail address for some of you. Please look close enough at your email to see if there is a typo in it. We also need you to put your Jersey number on the address roster. Thanks to captain Bob Lavigne of the red team for getting all his players jersey numbers on opening night! All team captains should have the team address roster. The more accurate this information is the better we will be able to communicate with you.
Thanks for stopping by the web page. We have over 5,000 hits. Not too shabby.
The stats will not be updated until we get your jersey numbers because the points are all registered by jersey number. To keep the stats more accurate we are recommending that the goal scorer or at least someone confer with the ref to make sure the goals and assists are recorded accurately. All goal scorers should be gracious enough to make sure the assist are also recorded.

SAFETY TIP
We had another serious injury during one of this weeks games. Jon Deegan
took a puck to the face and he had to leave in an ambulance. We don't know
how serious it is yet but it looked pretty serious.
If you do not wear a visor please consider doing so.

Robert Heckman
Update
This is the update from Roberts Dad:
Hi There, Here is an up date on Robert; he did have a serious break and went through 2 operations to repair damage. He is in Herman hospital room 639, phone 713-704-8639. We don't know when he will get out yet. He has 3 rods screwed in his leg and a plate in his ankle. His big problem is he is upset that he won't be able to play next week. If you get a chance give him a call I'm sure he would like hearing from you.
Thanks

Player Moves!!
On Sunday night 30 seconds into his first shift Chad Texter tripped on the
center line and dislocated his shoulder. The yellow team placed Chad
Texter on the Injured Reserve so they could call Russell March up from the
waiting list. Russell didn't get a chance to skate with the Bananas because he was immediately shipped to the Red team for Tim Reith.
The Bananas were not yet done tinkering. The Bananas were also involved in a
three player deal of cosmic proportions that sent Ryan Welsh to the black
team. Apparently Ryan Welsh will be driving the team bus for black in
addition to playing hockey. With the addition of Ryan to black Frank
Melchor was moved to Teal which put Teal over the 13 man roster so they moved
Tony Townly to Yellow to complete the three player trade. Tony is
absolutely Bananas about the trade and happy to have split away from the
teal team and their ugly jerseys.
